Aggie Village offers UC Davis faculty and staff the opportunity to purchase affordable, quality homes created specifically to suit the needs of the growing university community. Homes are kept affordable for future buyers by capping the appreciation of homes at the faculty salary index or the Consumer Price Index, whichever is greater.

The neighborhood is adjacent to the UC campus, Davis Commons and downtown Davis and consists of 21 single-family homes and 16 split-lot town homes. Of the single-family homes, 17 have one-room cottages in their backyards. Designs include Craftsman-style bungalows, Victorian- and Mission-style homes, and are consistent with the diverse architectural character and scale of the surrounding neighborhood.

The front porches, balconies and other appealing details recall an earlier era of cozy, small-town life, yet each home is equipped with high-tech hook-ups and is designed for energy efficiency. Narrow, tree-lined streets accommodate visitor parking, and each home has its own garage.

The detached cottages or "Grad Flats" behind many of the homes can be used by homeowners as offices, guest cottages, or rental units for university students. Each of the units has its own entrance designed to help maintain a pedestrian oriented streetscape in the neighborhood.

Aggie Village's location integrates the campus with downtown Davis, and in part, functions as a gateway to the city and the UC campus. The five-block site includes retail, residential and university uses, and useable open spaces. Bicycle trails and pedestrian paths offer connections to destinations in Davis and the University. Aggie Village is bordered on the south by the UC Davis Arboretum, which has its own bicycle and pedestrian paths.
